Hearing Aids and Phones
If you currently have a cell phone with blue tooth you may be able to connect your hearing aids either directly to your cell phone or through a wireless accessory that works between your hearing aids and cell phone.
Several manufacturers currently have hearing aids that are MFi (made for Iphone) that allow you a direct connection to your hearing aid for cell phone use. This technology uses the hearing aid microphone as the relay for conversation.
There is another option for Bluetooth connectivity to most other cell phones. Most manufacturers have a wireless device that is worn around the neck. This device allows communication between the hearing aids and cell phone and houses the microphone to relay conversation.
These cell phone solutions offer handsfree communication and binaural listening into both hearing aids, thus improving phone conversation.
Currently, there are two manufacturers who have a landline phone that connects wirelessly to your hearing aids. This allows using the hearing aids with the landline to be much easier and more comfortable. Again, it allows amplification to come into both hearing aids.
Personal FM Systems
FM Systems are wireless assistive hearing devices that enhance the use of hearing aid(s) over distance and in noisy environments. They enable sound to be picked up close to a person speaking, or another sound source and is transmitted to the hearing aid wearer. This provides greater clarity of speech and a reduction in background noise. The system empowers the hearing aid user by offering enhanced speech and sounds in situations where hearing aids alone are not enough.
The system consists of receiver(s) sometimes attached to the hearing aids and a transmitter, which picks up the sound. It is a very portable and easy to use system.
Bluetooth Remote Microphones
This personal wireless microphone system lets patients hear their companions more easily in challenging listening environments like hearing in noise or one-on-one conversation over distance. The mic is attached to a lapel of the speaker using a clip or a lanyard and wirelessly sends audio directly to both hearing instruments through the use of an intermediary device.
