Ear Wax Removal
We are very excited to introduce to you a new addition to our Ear Wax removal treatments, the Earigator.
This piece of equipment offers a gentle and very effective flushing of earwax. Because it has full temperature control (constantly regulates the water to body temperature) and a pressure control, it allows us to safely and comfortably clean out ears in under 30 seconds.
Earwax
Lets just start by saying that earwax production is a very natural, normal and healthy thing. It has anti-bacterial properties and works like a protective layer between your ear canal and the outside elements. Earwax prevents dust, bacteria or anything else that enters the ear canal from reaching the eardrum.
Where does it come from?
Earwax is produced by oil glands in the outer part of the ear canal. The fancy name for earwax is cerumen.
Why do we need to remove it?
If left alone, normally earwax migrates out of the ear on its own so its best left alone. Sometimes though, it creates a blockage or a build up that can cause earache, feelings of fullness, ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and multiple problems with hearing aids.
How do you get rid of Earwax
You need to see someone who is trained in wax removal, someone who is trained in examining the ear and someone who has the proper tools and equipment. STAY AWAY FROM Q-TIPS, THEY ONLY MAKE IT WORSE!
Here at London Audiology Consultants, we have several clinicians trained in wax removal and are now offering flushing with the Earigator. For those ears that cannot be syringed, we provide manual curetting.
